09 May 2009 - Chengdu Sports Aid Half Marathon & 10K
Location: Chengdu
Hello Everyone!
The 2nd Annual Half Marathon (and newly added 10k) is almost HERE! Last year 14 of us ran for to support the China Children and Teenagers Fund after the earthquake. This year we are excited about a wonderful project started by the Chengdu Sports Aid group, a part of Sichuan Quake Relief. This group of super cool volunteers has organized trips to middle schools around Sichuan Province that have accepted kids displaced from the tragedy last year in May. Many of these kids are struggling to adjust to their new lives, confused and just plain bored. Chengdu Sports Aid organizes 2-3 hours of games such as basketball, ping pong, soccer, badminton and even a few silly ones like the limbo and the three-legged race! There has been an overwhelming response in the community to support this project and we are hoping to sustain it financially for at least the next year with this Marathon & 10k.
How can I help, Kelly? Great question! Glad you asked.
1. RUN RUN RUN. Any and all are welcome to participate. Attached below is the flyer including details of the race, as well as a registration form. PLEASE REGISTER PRIOR to the race so I can make sure you get a T-shirt (see flyer or website for details such as time/location of registration as well as downloadable registration forms -- www.sichuan-quake-relief.org)
2. Get sponsored. Seek sponsorship from your friends, family or local businesses for this cause and your RUN. Donations will be taken at The Bookworm and The Shamrock. I will personally be taking donations at The Shamrock on Fridays from 7-10pm. MORE INFO WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE regarding Bank account info for direct deposit both domestically and internationally. There will also be a follow-up email regarding avenues for donation very shortly.
3. Volunteer. We need volunteers for water stations, registration tables and general logistics on race day. Specifically we need: A few people with a car that are willing to drive volunteers to water stations EARLY that morning (leave the starting point at 6:15am). Volunteers are also also welcomed for future involvement in Chengdu Sports Aid projects.
For ALL of the awesome race details, see flyer or website. www.sichuan-quake-relief.org

24 Jan 2009 - Australia Day Aussie Rules Match
Location: Chengdu
G'day all.
The Ranga, myself and CRFC are hosting a one-off Australian rules football game to take place on (or pretty bloody close to) Australia Day 2009. Australia Day takes place on January 26, which is a monday - so, the game will be on Saturday the 24th, on the current weekend rugby pitch.
This will be the first ever Aussie Rules Football match in Chengdu, and we know it will be a bloody tops occasion.
There will be both a contact, and a non-contact match played, and everyone is welcome - so contact Simon, Paul or the club if you want to have a crack.
So get your thongs, stubbies and wifebeaters on, grab a stubbie and get down there!
14 Feb 2009 - 2nd Annual St. Valentine's Day Massacre
Location: Chengdu
Those crazy pandas in Chengdu are at it again! It’s time for the 2nd Annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre and this year it’ll be on St. Valentine’s Day!!!
Again, this is an entirely barbarian event and therefore anyone is welcome (this means you don’t have to send a full team or even half a team. If there’s one member from your club who’s interested, they are welcome!). All players will be randomly assigned to a team when the arrive. As far as what we’ll be playing (10s, 15s, or 7s), again that depends on the number of participants.
And remember, this is a very social tournament (so feel free to bring significant others, costumes, props, etc. It’ll all go to make the after party that much more fun!).
So come on over to the sometimes sunny ‘Du and celebrate the holiday of love doing what you love – playing rugby and having an unforgettable time!
If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at chengdurugbyfootball@gmail.com. To confirm your participation, please let us know by February 1, 2009.

The eagerly awaited Sichuan Quake Tourny is here! That's right folks. So here is the lowdown for the weekend.
We are keeping the structure fluid. This means we don't know what the teams break downs will be until the day of. Please be at our regular weekend practice Pitch on SATURDAY THE 11TH AT 11:30 to help set up the flags and so that we can see how we are doing in terms of numbers. We will do men's contact, co-ed tag/touch, and then another contact game if the men are up for it. The event will finish at 3:30 after which there will be the regular after party at Shamrock at 7:30.
If you have ANY CRFC paraphenalia - shirts, jerseys, PLEASE bring them the day of! We're gonna need it to distinguish between teams. Also, if you have ANY club stuff - please bring that as well as I'm going to try and consolidate all club equipment.
Thanks and I'll see you on the pitch!
